Dreams, we all have them and on average we have them between three and nine times a night, even if we do not remember the next morning. There is no natural way to stop ourselves from dreaming, but there are certain external stimuli, such as drugs or alcohol, that can disrupt or stop the dreaming process. However it is a documented fact that to deprive someone of dreams (not sleep) for a prolonged period of time results in a type of madness where they lose control if their inhibitions and start acting out their dreams instead. Many people have tried to determine what dreams are, the most common dreams tend to be of situations that are playing an important part in our life at that time. We see the situations and problems without all the thrills, often in highly symbolic forms. Quite often dreams themselves will present solutions to these problems if we just learn to interpret them. For example, a dream of running away from someone or something would normally mean that there is a situation in your life that you are afraid to approach or deal with. This in turn can cause you sickness, ill health or negative feelings. You already know what the situation is, but, more often than not, it is stored in the subconscious. Once the underlying cause is dealt with, the dream should stop. Some people dream of being a different person from another time, i.e. Victorian. This is often a past life that you are re-experiencing, normally to help solve problems or to point you in the right direction in this life. To dream of something yet to be is quite often a premonition, but, it is hard to determine exactly when or where these dreams occur. They are often given from Spirit, not always to prevent or change the situation, but as proof of their (Spirits) existence. Dream books can be of a great help in discovering what dreams mean, but they can only give a generalised interpretation. It is also important to look at the whole dream and not try to over analyse isolated elements otherwise the true significance of the dream may elude you completely. If you take time to examine each part of the dream in its proper context you will soon find the answers you need. It is best to leave a pen and paper by your bed to make an accurate account of what you have dreamt, because, invariably you will forget the finer detail (which is always the most relevant bit) once you go about your daily routine!
