Part 2

One of the most spectacular designs of the year appeared on right on top of a hill near Lockeridge in Wiltshire, within an area that’s known as West Woods. Nicknamed the “wavy cross”, this beautifully executed quintuplet design almost looked as if it had been drawn freehand.

Exactly a month after this formation arrived researcher Andy Fowlds captured a spectacular “Ball of Light” show whilst he was filming this stunning circle from above. As Andy states…“ This is without any doubt whatsoever evidence that there is a unique relationship between the white, bright, orb-like objects witnessed and recorded on numerous occasions before, and the crop formations”

The following still shot is taken from the video footage• but please note that the orbs have been enhanced purely for printing purposes as within the quality of the film transfer they appear a little obscure.

One of this years mind-blowing events took place took place over the 22nd and 23rd of July at South Field in Alton Priors where we were treated to a stunning design that arrived in two parts! On the 22nd the inner band of six wing-to-wing “swallow” shapes appeared which to everyone’s astonishment morphed into another six the following day!

The phenomenon moved out of Wiltshire on the 27th of July and went on to produce an enormous “Solitaire-type” pattern of little and large circles just by Wayland’s Smithy in Oxfordshire. Producing a four-fold marriage of circles to a square, it measured approx. 570ft x 570ft and contained 241 circles in total.

Remaining in Oxfordshire a formation arrived on the very first day of August whose location took many by surprise. Illustrating a set of mechanical cogs, it was placed just below one of the five wind turbines that make up the small wind farm at Watchfield.

Interestingly you might recall the alleged “UFO” incident on January 7th 2009 whereby a wind turbine at Louth in Lincolnshire was allegedly hit by a massive ball of light. Causing massive damage a blade went missing whilst another was crumpled. If they are to be believed there are many that witnessed this ball of light as having tentacles that reached right to the ground and looking not dissimilar to an octopus.

Could there be any significance in the fact that maybe the “paranormal” has chosen to highlight green ecology in one way or another?

The late July and early August formations paved the way for what was to come…For months many had anticipated that the 8th of August (in being the 8th of the 8th of the 8th) would more than likely provide us with an event of some importance. Circle enthusiasts in particular, because of the recognised play on numbers that “The Circlemakers” often demonstrate, have become increasingly aware of such happenings.

On the night of the 7th - 8th August over a hundred or so enthusiastic field watchers took part in a nightwatch. From carefully chosen viewpoints overlooking fields that had been visited by “The Circlemakers” in the past, many anticipated that if anything was about to appear they were ready for it. But although a few were covering the Milk Hill area no one saw anything until dawns early light revealed a magnificent formation below! Amazingly it was in the shape of an enormous figure of eight that by blatantly arriving on the 8th of the 8th of the 8th obviously proved to be of some significance.

The figure eight is quite similar to the figure of a circle in that it has neither a beginning nor an end…therefore it’s often regarded as a symbol of eternity. Esoterically the eighth day follows the sixth of creation and the seventh of rest that heralds the age of eternity that is to come. The number eight is also the number of Christ for in whom many seek eternal life. Christ was also known as the King and in having three eights together interprets as being “King of Kings”.

Amongst the seasons masterpieces was a huge Celtic cross that appeared at Etchilhampton Hill. Whilst this huge Celtic – Christian – Crucifix couldn’t help but raise some religious speculation, here was a formation that literally couldn’t help but take everyone’s breath away! This was a formation that was as near perfect as you’ll ever find. Spread over eight tramlines and about twice its size in length this stunning “jawdropper” occupied the space of around three football pitches.

Usually by mid August the fields are all harvested and the crop circles are done and dusted, but this year was different…for due to the late harvest designs were still appearing in late September with some even uncommonly appearing in maize during October.

Internationally there were some stunning designs that spread themselves throughout Europe and beyond but it was the UK once again that clearly remained at the centre of things. And once again it was Avebury in Wiltshire that provided their epicentre. There has never been a season like this…which unfortunately means that because of the limited space of this review I really can’t do it justice!
